The Alterno Foundation is assisting the Rata-Tui Restoration Trust with constructing a Grade 2 non-technical mountain bike track on the Motupipi Hill (Golden Bay – South Island).
The Rata-Tui Restoration Trust purchased the hill for the purpose of conservation, and providing an area for public recreation. In the last few years the trustees, with the help from volunteers, have built a series of tracks to provide access for weed control and pest control and planting but also to allow recreational use of the area by mountain bikers, walkers and runners.
The Alterno Foundation sees this as an opportunity to contribute to a project led by local enthusiasts and with the potential for the wider public to experience a beautiful part of New Zealand while exercising to keep fit and healthy.
