The Waihi Beach Lifeguard Services is an organisation located in the popular beach community in the Western Bay of Plenty. The Club provides an excellent service to all members of the public visiting Waihi Beach, ensuring their safety on the beach and in the water.
For the 2015/2016 summer season the Club’s focus is to actively implement a long term strategy in developing the Club to the next performance level, increase the number of qualified lifeguards, and improve their skills and to create a Club culture that builds tomorrow’s leaders. As such the club expressed a wish to appoint a head coach, with the aim of putting the junior lifeguards through a structured training program, teaching them the skills needed, and mentor aspirant coaches at the same time.
The Alterno Foundation is assisting the Waihi Beach Lifeguard services as it supports the skills and disciplines the club imparts to young people.
